Washington Collado

Dr. Washington “Nino” Collado, born in the Dominican Republic, immigrated to New York in 1975 and began his educational journey in NYC public schools. He began his career in 1986 as a Spanish and ESL teacher in New York City before moving to Florida in 1992 to continue teaching. In 1998, he joined Broward County Public Schools’ Multicultural Department, where he provided training on the historical contributions of Latinos, African Americans, and women. Dr. Collado transitioned into school administration as an assistant principal and later as principal for 16 years, leading diverse schools. He was president of the Broward Association of Principals and Assistants. Named Broward County’s Principal of the Year, 2021, he has presented nationally and internationally on leadership and family engagement. An author of over 100 articles and six books. He is an associate with Creative Leadership Solutions and an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University.
