Kate Barker is an accomplished principal, teacher, coach, and author with more than 35 years in education. Renowned for creating inclusive, high-achieving school environments in diverse and economically challenged communities, she has been honored as a Nationally Distinguished Principal and her state’s Principal of the Year. Kate has led innovative work in multi-tiered systems of support, including academics, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional learning to strengthen outcomes for all students. With a master’s degree in special education, she is a passionate advocate for equitable practices and empowers general education teachers to successfully include and support students with diverse needs. Kate is widely recognized for her ability to connect with, guide, and coach leaders, helping them grow in confidence, clarity, and effectiveness. She teaches at the University of Oregon and provides practical, research-aligned instruction in their administrative licensure program. Her expertise makes her a trusted partner in school improvement, educational reform, and culture building.
