Jonelle Massey knows that empathetic people are typically skilled active listeners exposed to diverse experiences, challenges, and people. Jonelle has 23 years of experience as a school counselor and nationally certified licensed mental health therapist. Her diverse service in education as a school counselor and therapist includes both public and private, primary and secondary educational settings, as well as psychiatric hospital care and private practice. As a former Division I athletic scholarship basketball player and College coach, Jonelle shares her passion for teaching effective teamwork, motivation and resilience through her professional development lectures, workshops, consulting and coaching. Spring 2021, Jonelle published her first book, part memoir, part self-help, “The Miseducation of Empathy”. Her book dismantles traditional ideas about how we should be practicing empathy in our work cultures and in service to our students.
