The following workshops outline the services, impact, and outcomes designed to help your district or school build capacity internally for a comprehensive equity plan that will sustain your district for years to come. Track One sets your initial level of engagement. Track Two sets conditions for deeper impact in your equity work. Track Three builds capacity within the broader community.

Becoming an Equity-Certified School or District

 

Building the Foundation

  • Learn core concepts and tools for increasing cultural competency

  • Learn how to analyze and plan for an equity culture that increases students’ sense of belonging, inclusion, and academic performance

Equity Proficiency Training

Cost: $

Timeframe: 1 Day

Audience: All Stakeholders, All Levels

What’s Included: Exposure to cultural issues that affect learning; Exploration of how to create school and society culture that impact performance

Outcomes: Participants gain awareness into their personal level of equity development; Participants gain awareness of how organizational issues impact equity

Managing Culture with an Equity Lens

Cost: $$

Timeframe: 2 Days (Minimum)

Audience: District Leaders, Building Leaders, Team Leaders

What’s Included: Real-time organizational assessment on degree to which schools support student feelings of belonging, systemic obstacles to inclusion, and academic performance

Outcomes: Participants gain tools to analyze culture and plan responses for ways in which schools undermine student performance; Participants have foundation to form internal task groups dedicated on increasing equity in their school/district

Post-Workshop Resources & Tools: Coaching is warranted to continue team development and use of Equity Progress Assessment for diagnostic and planning purposes

Planning & Managing for Equity System-Wide

  • Develop strategies for advancing equity and increasing school performance

  • Build a cadre of equity trainers within your system

Strategic Planning with an Equity Lens

Cost: $$$

Timeframe: 3 Days (Equivalent)

Audience: District Leaders, Building Leaders, Team Leaders (recommended for intact teams)

What’s Included: Real-time organizational assessment on transforming schools to become high performing cultures that center equity

Outcomes: Participants are prepared to develop comprehensive strategic plans for advancing, managing, and monitoring equity

Post-Workshop Resources & Tools: Monthly coaching for teams/leaders is recommended to complete their plan and begin implementation

Training Certification

Cost: $$$$

Timeframe: 6-12 months (training); 12 months (supervision)

Audience: All Stakeholders, All Levels

Outcomes: Participants are certified to deliver the Equity Proficiency Training or Equity in the Classroom Workshop

Post-Workshop Resources & Tools: Ongoing trainer refresher activities; Workshop materials are available to support trainers and participants

 

Track Two: Impact
Embedding Equity Within Your School or District

 

Fortifying the Foundation

  • Increase teachers’ capacity to meet the needs of struggling learners and students with specialized learning needs

  • Increase teachers’ competence to bring culturally relevant instruction into their classrooms

Strategic Planning with an Equity Lens

Cost: $

Timeframe: 12 months

What’s Included: Ongoing support for strategic plan implementation; ongoing refreshers and coaching for internal trainers; additional trainings for new staff as needed

Outcomes: Strategic plan implementation coaching and support; Trainers are supported for ongoing quality control

Equity in the Classroom

Cost: $$

Timeframe: 3 Days

Audience: Teachers, Team Leaders, Building Leaders

What’s Included: Learn the elements of equitable classrooms; Explore aspects of equitable classrooms including culturally responsive instruction; Assessment of classrooms for equity; Designing equitable classrooms

Outcomes: Participants gain an understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy, critical race theory, and mindset management

Application

  • Provide teachers a framework for building student confidence, engagement, and effectiveness

  • Provide teachers with an intensive, scenario-based series of workshops focused on building lesson plans that meet the varied needs of of students in the classroom using the latest pedagogy

Building Confidence in the Classroom

Cost: $$

Timeframe: 2 Days

Audience: Teachers, Team Leaders

What’s Included: Challenge Cycle; Confidence constellation toolkit

Outcomes: Participants understand the ways in which confidence informs Social Emotional Learning (SEL) developmental learning cycles of students; The ways in which confidence increases a students’ capacity to be life-long learners

Post-Workshop Resources & Tools: Activities for building students confidence toolkit

Differentiation with an Equity Lens

Cost: $$$

Timeframe: 5 days (30 hours)

Audience: Teachers

What’s Included: Real-time development of differentiated lesson plans; Exposure to and experience of differentiated learning environments

Outcomes: Participants are able to set up classrooms that enable students with a variety of learning needs to be successful

Amplifying Outreach

  • Engage parents in learning approaches for carrying equity-based and confidence-focused initiatives from the classroom into home

  • Create dialogue for business, faith and other community leaders to engage with district stakeholders in review of community needs and school district plans

Outcomes: Participants gain an understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy, critical race theory, and mindset management

Sustaining Engagement

  • Support student equity learning groups that meet over breakfast or lunch to engage in strategic dialogue about equity in their schools, to react to district planning, or proactively sponsor student initiated equity initiatives

  • Inform and engage parents and community members in district strategic planning efforts

Community Overview for Equity and Strategic Planning

Cost: $$

Timeframe: 2 Days (equivalent)

Audience: District Leaders with Parents and Community Members

What’s Included: Overview of district equity planning and analysis; Discussion of organizational assessment of district functions

Outcomes: Participants are prepared to develop comprehensive strategic plans for advancing, managing, and monitoring equity

Notes​:

  • Track Two relies on the strategic plan done in Track One.

  • Certification training requires a second trainer for a group of trainees greater than 6.

  • Maximum number of participants in each training session is 30 participants.

  • Materials for participants in workshops offered by certified trainers will be provided by CLS at a standard cost.
